Evolve Into Who You Want To Be
Being human is hard. You deserve a space that feels a little less overwhelming and gives you room to grow in the ways that matter to you.
Hi, I’m Ruby - therapist, human, and believer that healing can be meaningful and a little bit fun.
Rubina Piña, LPC
I’m a therapist who shows up with humor, honesty, and a deep respect for the parts of you that learned to survive. I don’t believe therapy has to feel stiff or clinical - being human is already hard enough. My style is warm, genuine, and a little quirky, because sometimes the inner child needs a soft place to land and sometimes the adult needs someone who can sit with the messy stuff.
I work with people who’ve carried heavy things for a long time - trauma, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, or just the emotional chaos of being alive. You don’t have to package yourself neatly to be here. You get to show up exactly as you are.
A Ruby, a Succulent, and the Humans I Work With
Short version: My ruby‑and‑succulent logo reflects what I believe about people: you’re valuable even with “imperfections”, resilient in hard places, and capable of growing far beyond survival mode.
My logo - a ruby gem with a succulent growing out of it - is more than a design. It’s a metaphor for the people I work with and the work we do together.
Rubies have natural imperfections that don’t diminish their worth - they tell the story of how they were formed. Humans are the same.
Succulents survive in harsh conditions. They adapt, they protect themselves, and sometimes they grow prickly edges to stay safe.
We do the same.
We learn to survive in environments that weren’t always gentle. We grow protective parts, coping skills, and emotional armor that once kept us alive. Those strategies were brilliant - and they deserve respect.
But survival mode isn’t meant to be a forever home.
We will start by honoring the parts of you that kept you going. From there, we will work together to build the tools that can help you move toward safety, growth, and connection.
You get to evolve.
Therapy that meets you where you are and grows with you.
Booking your appointment is simple. Just choose from the options provided, pick a time that works for both of us, and I’ll be in touch shortly after! If you have questions or don’t see what you’re looking for, please email question@rubypina.com and I’ll reply within 2 business days.
Therapy isn’t just about talking… it’s about connection. When you feel safe and genuinely comfortable with your therapist, everything else may seem just a little bit easier.
One‑on‑one sessions for kids, teens, and adults who are tired of carrying everything alone. I’ll use humor, honesty, and trauma‑informed care to help you reconnect with yourself and grow in the ways that matter to you.
Relationships can be complicated. Whether you’re partners, siblings, friends, or co‑parents, these sessions help you communicate, reconnect, and understand each other with more clarity and compassion.
Still unsure or feeling hesitant? That’s completely okay. A free 15‑minute consultation gives you space to ask questions, get a feel for my style, and see if we’re a good fit.

My self-pay rate is $90 and I also offer a sliding scale rate for self‑pay clients. Therapy shouldn’t keep you from meeting your basic needs, so email me and we’ll work to find an option that works. If I’m unable to accommodate, I can provide you with more affordable resources.
Notice to Clients and Prospective Clients: Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

I’m person‑centered first, because the relationship we build is the foundation of the work - and research supports that statement! From there, I pull in tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and trauma‑informed care. My approach is simple: give you skills you can use right now while we explore the experiences that shaped who you are today.

I work with kids 8+, teens, and adults of all ages! I support people navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, addiction, life transitions, relationship challenges, and the emotional impact of past experiences.

I completed my Bachelor’s in Psychology (with a minor in Human Services) at Sam Houston State University and I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of Houston.
I have five years of experience working with severe mental illness in an inpatient forensic hospital, where I also worked as a substance abuse counselor. I have experience supporting people navigating addiction, substance use, and involvement in the legal system.
I also spent a year working inpatient with geriatric clients, and for the last two years I’ve been in private practice working with children, adults, and couples.

I help people who are navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, relationship challenges, identity exploration, and the general overwhelm of being human.
You don’t need a perfect explanation for why you’re here, just a desire for things to feel different.

The first session is about getting to know what’s bringing you to therapy and gathering some background information. I don’t do a huge deep dive. This can feel invasive when you’re meeting someone for the first time. I’m here to listen to what you want to share and ask questions if you’re not sure where to start.

That’s completely okay!! Having a therapeutic relationship where you feel comfortable and open is so so important. If you feel that I’m not the right provider for you, I can provide referrals to try and help you find someone who feels right for you.
